Integrated Service Group (ISG) is a company that sells IT infrastructure equipment and solutions to state companies.
Almost all Russian national projects for example “Internet in Every School” from IT part where accompanied by ISG.

ISG needed to have a new software product for an economic research of any kind. This software had to satisfy two contradictory demands:
To be VERY flexible and to be VERY efficient.
To achieve this goal was a matter of honor, software could be installed in the leading Russian state companies.
As a suggested solution we presented following architecture: We put ourselves in the place of a consultant that uses software and tried to imagine all features he will need.
A consultant gathers data… so we invented a structural repository in order to keep it. The repository could contain various unlimited number of the data types which could be tables, scalars, vectors, binary data, schema etc.

Then a consultant needs to be able to work with the data, so we suggested flexible methods. They could be applied to known structural entities and produce new repository entities as well.

Very often consultants are on business trips so we enhance functionality of application into excel with the possibility to import the data back to the application.

The key system features are following:
- Flexible economical model design;
- Functionality comparable with excel;
- Web interface;
- Rich user interface;
- The possibility of the full-scale model modifying.
The application is a combination of .NET application and web interface that uses database Ms SQL for data storing and Ms Excel for operational needs.
Technologies and tools that were used:.NET Framework 2.0, C#, ADO.NET, Microsoft SQL Server 2005,Microsoft Project. IIS, ASP.NET.

Difficulties on a project
I must admit, that we created a rather complicated application. First of all it has many flags to tune in order to determine its functionality,
secondly, the data stored in repository had many statuses i.e. inserted, checked, approved, moved to head office, checked in head office and etc.
And thirdly, it was rather specific to work with.
Our aim was to start this software in an oil station, and what was important here was to start it remotely.
First time I called there, I hardly found common understanding even regarding simplest features of this software.
Second and third calls brought results but not completely. So we had a situation with complete impossibility to gather data.
So... we wrote an excel pattern with sell size 20px x 50 px and, sent it to the oil station.
It was impossible to miss or spoil something. After the excel was filled we imported it into application.
